I was doing a google search and went to a web site. The tab web site said that I had a virus and wanted to "fix" it. I tried to delete the tab but was unable. I used CTRL-ALT-DEL to kill Firefox. Every time I restart Firefox my tabs come up including the evil tab. I am running my virus program but would like to know how to start Firefox without the current tabs.

Hi,

You have your computer infected with Adware , try installing these and run a full scan to remove the adwares:

1. Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware http://www.filehippo.com/download_malwarebytes_anti_malware/ 2. SuperAntiSpyware http://www.filehippo.com/download_superantispyware/

install one by one update both to latest and run scan:

Hope this resolves you issue:

Thanks for the reply. I used IE to go to Mozilla and posted the problem. I went to their link to prove my email address and in doing so, opened Firefox. It opened with only 2 tabs and NOT the evil one. I then restarted the 6 tabs that I usually use. I then ran my virus & Adaware programs. They did not find anything but the problem seems to be gone. I have been in computers for 40 years and I VERY seldom have problems that I can't fix, so when I do I really appreciate the help.

My Firefox died on me last week-cannot even uninstall it to reinstall it, may be a good thing. I've run antivirus Avast, Spybot, and CCleaner-nothing out of the ordinary comes up. I got a new computer yesterday, and tried to download Firefox into it-it killed the computer! Luckily, it's a rental so I can take it back. And yes, I ran everything on that computer before I even got started-had FAR less information on it than this computer, lol. Is Firefox now unsafe to use? I won't be using it again until I hear it is safe again-I don't like it killing a computer I only had 24 hours.
