I have already tried New Tab Homepage (and now also NewTabURL). The problem is just that the curser dont show op i the seach field of google (my homepage)

I figured out. I have to install Tab Mix Plus beta, in that I have the option to start my homepage in a new tab, that set the curser in the my Google search field :)

Great thanks for the tip! and any chance on figuring out how to show previews for the individual tabs in the task bar? thx ;-)

You welcome. About the question, do the opposite of this http://www.techtip.org/disable-firefox-4-multiple-tabs-preview/

(write "about:config" in the browser, then find "browser.taskbar.previews" and click on it) That works, but the image quality isn’t that good.

  • Tools > Options > Tabs > "Show tab previews in the Windows taskbar"

You can also look at the browser.taskbar.*enable prefs on the about:config page.
