When we shop on the net we get all kinds of ads from merchants that we have not visited on the net, and they know what we are shopping for and the sites price that we visited. We are running Kaspersky and Firefox

You can disable third-party cookies: Third-party cookies and Firefox tracking protection

You can set the pref layout.css.visited_links_enabled to false on the about:config page to prevent websites from sniffing the history.

This will make visited links and unvisited links show the same, so you can no longer distinguish them.
