I have the latest Firefox version for XP. After starting Firefox with homepage (Google search), keyboard and curser do not work

I am running the latest Firefox version for XP . After starting Firefox, it opens to my homepage (Google search). The page opens but the keyboard and cursor do not work. I have to repeat the process several times to get the KB and cursor to operate.
