Every time I start Firefox lately, it keeps prompting me: "You must log in to this network before you can access the Internet." I have no idea what this means and have no problem accessing the Internet in any case. What suddenly started causing this !#@%$ message and how do I turn it off?

Chosen solution

I guess it's Captive portal detection.

Try to go to about:config and switch network.captive-portal-service.enabled to false.

Hi

Are you signed into the network that you wish to use?

It sounds like your device is trying to connect to a network you have not signed into. Perhaps your home connection has changed or you are trying to inadvertently connect to your next door neighbours WiFi.

I recommend contacting your internet service provider who should be able to walk through the steps to fix this.

Brilliant! Worked like a champ although it took a bit of work to find the right setting. Thanks a million!
