Firefox Crashes on Pinetools.com Photo Editing Site

I was attempting to use the Pinetools.com photo editing site on Firefox for Android, and it sent Firefox into a crash loop - I had to uninstall and reinstall. I was able to replicate this one more time. Here's exactly how it went down:

  • went to https://pinetools.com/add-noise-image
  • uploaded and filtered the photo
  • "right"/long-clicked it to open the edit in a new tab, which immediately sent Firefox into a crash loop
  • uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox when it became clear that closing the app wasn't solving the problem
  • replicated the above steps, to the same result
  • uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox again.

I have uBlock Origin and Privacy Badger, and reinstalled them both times - is there any chance I could have put my device/info at risk?

Hi

I am sorry to hear that Firefox for Android is crashing. I hope that we can help resolve this for you. Before following the steps below, make sure that you have updated both your Android device and Firefox for Android to the latest versions available.

As a first step, close down many of the tabs that you have open to as few as possible. Does this help reduce the incidence of a crash?

If this does not resolve the issue, open the Android Settings app, select Apps then find Firefox in the list. In the section titled Storage and Cache, select the option to clear the cache (do not clear data!). Does this help?

Following that, our developers will need to look into this in more detail with some logs from inside your copy of Firefox for Android. Type about:crashes in the address bar which will display information about recent crashes. If you select the most recent Socorro link, a crash report will open in a new tab. If you could copy and paste the address of the page that opens into a reply to this thread, we will be able to look into this further for you.

I hope that this helps.

Hi there - thank you, but as mentioned in my original post, the crash is connected to a specific website, and I have uninstalled and reinstalled the app, so I don't have any crash reports. When I replicated the crash, the app was freshly installed with nothing in the cache, and the only tabs open were the photo editing website, and the tab that I attempted to open the edited photo in, which caused the crash.
