Cannot Launch Firefox Because Profile Can't Load

Hi,

I am using OS MX-25 Linux and after importing my previous FF profile from an earlier version of MX everything in Firefox 145.0 was fine: my bookmarks and extensions all loaded and everything was tickety-boo. However, after I attempted to relaunch FF I got the following message:

Your Firefox profile cannot be loaded. It may be missing or inaccessible.

I have tried numerous times to launch FF but just keep getting this message.

Eventually it launched, but after a while pages refused to load properly and so I closed it down. Since then, I have been unable to get FF to open.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Chosen solution

I decided to uninstall FF and then reinstalled. All my bookmarks and extensions where still there but after relaunching FF it was a fresh version!

I then imported my bookmarks as an HTML file and just simply added my extensions manually.

That sounds really frustrating! It seems like the profile you imported might have some compatibility issues with the newer Firefox version on MX-25 Linux. One approach that usually helps is creating a new Firefox profile and then carefully importing bookmarks and extensions from the old profile, instead of fully using the old profile. You can do this via `about:profiles` in Firefox—create a fresh profile, set it as default, and then manually move over bookmarks, passwords, and extensions. That often fixes loading issues while keeping your data intact.

Many thanks wirkutskijkarl for your informative reply. Unfortunately, as I can't launch FF I am therefore, unable to create a fresh profile via about:profiles.

So, my frustrations with FF continue! :-(
