After bookmark recovery, bookmarks disappear again after a time.

My bookmark file was corrupted and I was eventually able to recover them using an old backup file. Now the issue is after I leave Firefox open long enough, the bookmarks disappear again. The folders are there but they are empty when I click on them. If I restart the browser they reappear. Beyond restarting, is there a fix for this?
