I can no longer update or install extensions on my Firefox profile.

When I attempt to update, nothing happens. When I attempt to install a new extension, the Mozilla page states "Installation aborted because the add-on appears to be corrupt."

This appears to be a problem with my profile, because if I create a new profile, I can install extensions with it. However, I do not want to lose my existing extension settings or data.
