Why do my bookmarks disappear every time I shut off my Mac and reopen Firefox again?

Each time I shut my Mac off and the next day open it up again, Firefox opens up and there are NO bookmarks on the left side. So I have to do the Command B to get them back up. I have neverf had to do this until recently??????
