This morning I went to check my email on gmail, and google asked me to sign in again. Easy, I thought. I entered my account, and then google asked for my passkey. Until this morning this meant that on my mac it would ask me to place my finger on the right key on the keyboard. This morning it just froze firefox indefinitely. I then tried on Safari, and it worked as expected. I checked the version of firefox: it's 136.0.1. Obviously something changed (i.e. broke!) with the new version. Has anybody else experienced this? Any suggested fixes?

How is that a Firefox browser issue?

If you read my post I stated that it worked on Safari but not firefox. It had been working on firefox two days previously. It only stopped working after firefox upgraded.

Google Passkey....that isn't Firefox browser apps. And no screenshot error was post for others to see what is happening to see what the problem is.

Yes I have this problem too. When I try to sign into Youtube using my email and passkey, Firefox freezes and I have to restart it. It seems to try and call the passkey window but nothing happens. I updated my Mac OS and at the same time updated to the latest version of Firefox so it's not clear to me where the issue is.

Hi

Are you using any add-ons in Firefox?

This seems to be related to Mac OS updates. I finally (though I don't exactly remember what I did), got it to work. Somehow I persuaded google on firefox to use a password. However, I just updated Mac OS to 15.3.2. Upon reboot it logged me out of all of my services. When I tried to log onto google on firefox, it just hangs. It works fine on Safari (it brings up the finger touch passkey, which is what used to happen on Firefox). Somehow the new version of Mac OS has broken firefox's interaction with google authentication. Perhaps firefox was using an undocumented interface and not the "official" one. I won't try it again on firefox since it completely hangs firefox, which has to be killed.

More information: after logging onto my google account using Safari, now firefox *does* respond to the passkey using touch id.

I have had a similar experience, however after logging in with Safari I am still unable to log in with Firefox. Regarding add-ons I have DuckDuckGo Privacy essentials and Firefox Relay enabled and a couple of disabled ones. I haven't tried re-booting yet. I will do that tonight. And to be clear, passkey does work with other sites (e.g. Hubspot) on Firefox.

Update: It appears to be working following the latest Firefox update.
