I would like to search history, but exclude certain sites or words from the results. How?

So, I have a fairly large browser history that I keep for a long time. There are some sites in it that I've not visited very often, but trying to find them with a particular search returns a whole bunch of data that is from a site that isn't the one I'm looking for. I'd like to exclude certain sites from a history search, but there doesn't seem to be any documentation about how to do that.

Is it even possible to exclude words from history results?
