(macOS) Firefox is trying to install a new helper tool

Hi,

For the past few weeks (or more) Firefox will not start up in one of my Mac user profiles. Please find attached a screenshot of the dialog it shows when I try to start it up.

I forget what happened, but I think it has to do with an update to macOS and (perhaps) not agreeing to all security measures that Firefox asked for…

For now, I’m working in DuckDuckGo in this user profile, but I thought I’d ask in case anybody can save me the research time to figure this out on my own.

Thanks for reading.

That's a pretty ambiguous dialog. Hopefully a Mac OS person recognizes it and can think of where to find a log or other information Mac OS saves in this situation so you can know what "tool" would be installed.

I had this helper tool problem today and the admin password wasn't the problem. Updating the macOS wasn't helpful either. Firefox still wouldn't open. Then I downloaded a fresh installation file from Mozilla and reinstalled the application and I'm back up and running
