Thunderbird 115 - multiple computers - WAV file fails with one account - See details

more options

Thunderbird issue:

System: Two computers running Linux Mint 21.3 - Google Chrome is the default browser.

Both running Thunderbird 115

Both have the same two accounts set up  : Pop3 – gmail.com

Both accounts were announcing ‘You Have Mail” using custom WAV file.

Both accounts are set for manual downloads.

I stay up to date on all updates for system as well as TB

Issue:

All worked A-O.K. until a month ago when one (primary account on one computer stopped announcing “You Have Mail”. The other account (secondary) as well as both accounts on the other computer still function normally, i.e. the wav file is functional.

I have tried everything that I can think of to address the issue but have been coming up empty handed.

I haven’t messed with the css files but have change paths to the file, used a different wav file. Tried oga, mp3, etc. all with no fix. I’ve changed themes and checked other add-ons. Still no fix.

I could live without it but I’m one that likes to have everything working!

Is it in my profile or what?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

If you have gmail POP accounts on multiple computers, are they configured with 'recent mode', so that all computers can download mail? See the first section here.

Hi! Many thanks for your response. I have several Linux system computers on line all with two accounts - My wife's and mine. It is only the one machine that has started experiencing the problem, Never had any issues when I click on either, or both, accounts until recently. It is just the one computer so I guess I will leave it alone or, possibly, roll back TB. I haven't got it straightened out yet but sure appreciate the reply. I'll keep digging until 'all else has failed'.

Is the one machine using the sandboxed SNAP version (newer Ubuntu and derivatives) and the others are not?

Thanks much for the response, Matt. No. Both of the machines are running 115 and was installed from the software manager. Both are working flawlessly except for this one issue. Thanks again. I shall keep digging. Got some football games to watch today. Take care. Ron
