I am on MacOS Monterey running Firefox 130.0. Tonight, I restarted my Mac. Upon startup, Firefox offered to restore my session, as always, but it did not restore everything. In fact, I had one window open that had many tabs (some important) and that is gone.

I'm a bit puzzled and I wonder if I've found a bug?

On Mac closing Firefox can be more complicated because you can close all open windows, but keep Firefox running with the menu bar visible or minimized in the Doc.

Make sure to use "Quit Firefox" with all windows still open, especially if you want to use "Restore Previous Session". Otherwise check "History -> Restore Previous Session" and "History -> Recently Closed Tabs/Windows".

I got a python script written that read the "previous.jsonlz4" file and I recovered all of the URLs.

Note, prior to 130, this has not happened. When the MacOS does a restart, it quits the applications; Firefox had been pretty good at updating the recovery.baklz4 file.
