I regularly update the app, without any problems.

The latest one (117) causes a startup crash. Can’t access the browser or the settings.

Thank god for jailbreak, I downgraded to the stable 116.4. Cleared web data, rebooted to a non-jailbreak state, updated to 117 and still crashes.

Back to 116.4 until a solution or feedback.

iPad Air 4th generation, on iOS 14.4.2

Hi

I am sorry to hear that Firefox for iOS is crashing. I hope that we can help resolve this for you. Before following the steps below, please make sure that you have updated both your iOS device and Firefox for iOS to the latest versions available.

As a first step, close down many of the tabs that you have open to as few as possible. Does this help reduce the incidence of a crash?

If this does not resolve the issue, open the iOS Settings app, select General then iPhone Storage. Find Firefox and select Offload App. Does this help?

Failing that, we will need to look into this in more detail with some logs from inside your copy of Firefox for iOS. This article will walk you through getting both crash logs and Firefox logs. When you have them, please file them here (a GitHub account is required) so that our developers can look into this further for you.

I hope that this helps.

Thanks for the reply.

As I mentioned before, when I update the app to the latest version, FF refuses to start. I’m on the previous version of it right now (as I type this message) because I got a jailbroken iPad and I can downgrade apps.

So, I can’t update the iOS (I’ll lose the jailbreak) and when I update the app it crashes on startup.

I tried the offload option but nothing came out of it.

I guess I’ll have to submit the crash log.

Maybe the update requires a higher iOS version than mine? (iOS 14.4.2)

Hi

You should be able to update Firefox for iOS on iOS 14.

I recommend you file the crash log further to my earlier response so that our developers can look into this further for you.
