When I started working from home, I bought my own domain and used my email address from that domain by forwarding the email to my Zen Internet ISP, where I picked it up. Most people have that address. However, unless I'm missing something, in Thunderbird, I can set it up as the default Reply To address, but not as a permanent From address, so, unless I use the Custom Address each time, people end up with a second or third or fourth email address for me in their Contacts. I assume it's not possible to set up a permanent Custom Address?

More info is needed, as people regularly set up their own domain and email id and use as their default email account. If your domain purchase includes web hosting, you should have all the proper tools.

Thanks yet again, David. You inspired me to spend all afternoon sorting it. It doesn’t help that 1&1 who hosted my domain from about 1996 turned into Ionis with only phone support which I hate. As far as I know, I only have domain hosted and no webmail. Anyway, I solved my problem by setting up a default Identity for all of my email accounts and this worked. I should have spent much more time understanding Thunderbird when I first put it on my PC as a backup to Pegasus Mail. It does have an awful lot of options! It doesn’t help having Apple Mail on my IPad and TypeApp on the Android, all with different ways of doing things!

I'm glad it worked out.
