I have been through your support site and have tried all the suggested solutions, but my "Get Messages" button does not work. I can download messages using the individual accounts.

I too have mine setup to collect messages in Local Folders. For each account, In "Server Settings / Advanced" I have "Include this Server when getting new mail" checked.

Works for me.

The 'Get Messages' button on 'Mail Toolbar' would normally only work on the account you currently have focus on. eg: Account A select Inbox, then click on 'Get Messages' and it should only get messages for Account A

The 'Get Messages' drop down options means you can have focus on Account A, but select to get messages for any account listed or for all accounts.

The right click on account name folder in Folder Pane and select 'Get Messages' should check for messages in the selected account.

When you select 'Get Messages' - note the time and what do you see in the 'Activity Manager'? Does it mention something like 'No Messages to download' etc ?

Do a test: Help > More Troubleshooting Information Under 'Diagnose issues' -( top right) Click on 'Troubleshoot Mode' Select checkbox: 'Reset toolbars and controls' Click on 'Make Changes and Restart'

Select an account Inbox and click on 'Get Messages ' button located on Mail Toolbar. Report on results.

It would be helpful to tell me:

  • what you tried as a fix
  • what Operating system you are using eg: Windows 10, MAC, Linux
  • The version of Thunderbird you are using
  • Any addons you have installed and whether some are still installed but not enabled.

Thanks for your suggestions.

I have all my accounts emails set to be directed to the Local Folders so I can receive them all in one place. I did the 'Reset toolbars and control' to no avail.

I am on Windows 10 Thunderbird 91.6.1 (64bit) ImportExport Tool NG

I am setting up Thunderbird for the first time having used MS Outlook for years. I am surprised something as simple as fetching all mail is a problem. It's a very basic function.

Regards

I have discovered that using the offline icon at the bottom left will download all my account emails before going offline. This is the same outcome as the 'Get Messages' button and can be used as a work around. It is not a fix. 'Get Messages' still does not work so a solution to that would be good.

Well, that simple. A BIG thanks for that JoeGons. It was really getting to me not being able to do use that button. I have now ticked all my email accounts and as you said, "Works for me". Go to the top of the class and give yourself a wee sweetie. Tak tent.

Perhaps a wee dram.

Also called a nippy sweetie in Glasgow...... Go for it!

LOL Scots have a way!!
