I have the Thunderbird program installed on my Windows 10 pc. I got a message that it needed to be updated but it needed to install a completely new version. I did this. Now, how do I get my group email address list over to the new version? Thank you.

When Thunderbird updates, the program updates to a new version. But you seem to be talking about the profile because you say how do I get my group email address list over to the new version?

This sounds like Thunderbird updated and forgot which profile was the default, so it created a new profile which was empty and asked you to input mail accounts. I'm presuming this is what occurred.

You do not mention whether you tried to reset the default profile. I suggest you try this first - do not worry, it is not going to delete the new profile, you can return to it if really necessary.

Menu app icon > Help > More Troubleshooting Information Under 'Application Basics' - near the bottom is 'Profiles' - click on 'about:profiles' It opens in a new tab. It will list the various 'profile names'.

Each profile will say: 'Default Profile'  : yes or no 'Root Directory: - this is where the profile used by Thunderbird is located 'Local Directory: - not used by Thunderbird, but created and used by the OS Below each profile are some buttons.

Locate the original profile name - currently it is not the default otherwise you would not been asked to recreate everything. Click on the 'Set as default profile' button Click on the 'Launch Profile' button This should open a new Thunderbird window showing the original profile. Then close the first Thunderbird window.

Does this get everything back?
