deactivate direct WiFi connexion
Hi, When I connect to the VPN, I find generally an icon specifying Mozilla VPN : Internet access Livebox : No internet access
I find that normal : all communications are going through the VPN and therefore are protected.
However, sometimes after an update, I have the following situation: Mozilla VPN : Internet access Livebox : Internet access
It seems that there are two communication channels and that an unprotected channel remains active so the confidentiality of the traffic is doubtful. Is my interpretation correct ? what shall I do to go back to the normal situation where all the traffic goes exclusively through the VPN ?
Thanks Patrick

Hi Patrick,
thank you for posting on the forum!
It is correct that your device is protected by the VPN and internet traffic will be masked through one of our IP addresses. Are you maybe using split tunneling on your device? Read more about this and how to use it here: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/split-tunneling-use-mozilla-vpn-specific-apps-wind
Please also make sure that your network settings are enables. You can click the gear icon on the top right to reach the settings in the VPN and then navigate to Network and inside you'll find a toggle for "Allow Local Network Access" which should enable you to use all local devices with the VPN turned on.

Thank you for your answer,
1, Yes this is correct, my device is protected by the VPN and the Internet traffic should be masked, 2, No I am not using split tunneling. All applications should be masked without exception.
Now, thank you for bringing my attention to the Local Network access. I tested yesterday the effect of allowing or not the LN access. Results are :
When LN access is enabled I have a dual connexion via the VPN and directly via the Livebox ! Mozilla VPN : Internet access Livebox : Internet access
When the LN access is disabled I come back to a normal situation where all the traffic goes exclusively via the VPN. So, the confidentiality is OK, but printers should be accessed only by USB cables. Mozilla VPN : Internet access Livebox : No internet access
So, obviously, for a reason that I do not understand, the LN organises a direct connexion between the PC and the Livebox in addition to the normal VPN connexion. Note the I did not configure the Local Network myself and I do not know how to deactivate this parasitic connexion which seems to depend on the system and not on the VPN.
