I'm searching for a specific email, it has a certain word in it.

When I use the search tool and type that very unique word, it shows shows 39 messages that contain that word. But when I click "show results as list", and view it by unthreaded, it now only shows 35 emails and of course, that specific email I need isn't in the list.

YET....I can see it in the previous search but only because I knew to click on that specific email (AKA someone emailed me, it had that word in the subject line, and I replied back. Their original email is missing from the list of 35 emails, I just happened to be able to find it a slow and backwards way).

Sorry this is hard to explain, but the search tool doesn't work properly and this is causing frustration for me at work!!

You appear to be using Global Search, so if it's not working, a database rebuild might help:

https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/rebuilding-global-database

If you know the account or folder with the message, consider Classic Search, Ctrl+Shift+F, or for a single folder try the Quick Filter Bar, Ctrl+Shift+K (type the query and then click the filter buttons).
