Thunderbird Drag and Drop Email Filing has gotten too sensitive with latest update 78 v12?
Thunderbird is acting weird with latest update. Such as: Now, Just clicking on an email in any file causes it to fully open up, where before it merely highlited it so we can do something with it. Now, When trying to drag an email into a file folder, causes all mayhem. The emails window goes crazy and left side box of email accounts automatically goes to the top of box, showing main email account & the move does not occur; Or Now, An email next to the one selected is inadvertently moved into an adjacent file folder, such that I have to go looking for where it went. Go figure! What's going on here? Never had such unstablized Thunderbird before & I've been using it for over two decades. This has been going on for weeks and been trying to resolve it changing 'mouse' settings, display settings, & nothing is fixing this frustrating issue. I'm tired & now apprehensive to open Thunderbird now. Hopefully there is bug fix being done and issued or I may now be forced to find another more stable & easy to use email application. I can't believe I'm having to say that but I know there are thousands of you out there with the very same problems and extremely frustrated to be thinking the same. By the way, it was hell to find this forum for Thunderbird because Firefox Accounts info doesn't even mention Thunderbird help unless we dig deep, Why? Hope someone out there is kind enough to address all the issues with the new Thunderbird above any other issues addressed would be so helpful. Sorry for the negativity, but again, the application has made me tired & very frustrated. Thanks in advance for your help.

This sounds like you used to operate without seeing a Message Pane, but it is now enabled.
If the 'Message Pane' is enabled: A single left click on an email in the Thread Pane list will open the email and display contents in the Message Pane. A double left click on email in the Thread Pane list will open in a new tab or window depending upon your chosen settings.
If 'Message Pane' is disabled: A single left click on an email in the Thread Pane list will do nothing. A double left click on email in the Thread Pane list will open in a new tab or window depending upon your chosen settings.
To enable/disable 'Message Pane': Menu app icon > Customise > Layout select to check/uncheck 'Message Pane' OR you can use the F8 key on keyboard to toggle the on/off of display.

This has to be down to user error or it is possibly the mouse you are using is too sensitive for you, dirty contacts, clicklock is switched on or mouse is starting to fail.
Emails that are not selected do not just jump into other random folders.
When you use a mouse, it will sense a click to do something and that information is communicated to the computer who performs the 'event' instruction in the program based on the received communication from the mouse. If the event instruction was wrong then everyone would be screaming about this issue and they are not. An 'event' instruction is key code and therefore would effect every installation including mine and it is not.
But if the mouse thought you did a double click when you thought you did a single click then the mouse is too sensitive and it will convey a different message to computer. If you eased up on mouse and it thought you had dropped the email then computer would say put in that location. Check 'Mouse Settings' to see if you have 'Clicklock' switched on as this allows dragging without even hlding down the mouse button.
So, it sounds more likely that your mouse is highly sensitive to your actions. Perhaps the mouse has got some dirt or is sticking when you choose to release, so releasing when mouse is not over the original location you desired.
