Missing emails

Hi On Friday Thunderbird started behaving strangely. My inbox would show (say) 20 messages but there were only 8 or so there. I logged on to my Sky account and all 20 messages were there. I can read the ones showing on either platform and delete them and the totals are adjusted correctly.

I have tried to pin down the problem, though the number I receive during the weekend is far less than in the week. I think all of a sender's emails comes through or none at all, i.e. for any one sender, I either see all or none of their emails.

Can anyone please shed any light on this and suggest a solution.

Check you do not have a filter operating, such as the 'Quick Filter Bar' search. Clear the search by clicking on the small x. Are any Quick Filter Bar icon filters highlighted? Is the 'pin' icon highlighted - this might mean a filter applied to a different folder is also being applied to Inbox. If yes, click on highlighted filter to remove it.

Check: View > Threads > All If you suspect it is only one person's emails, have you accidentally made that thread an 'ignored thread' check: View > Threads > Ignored threads (reset to ALL after checking) Info on ignored threads. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/ignore-threads

Check if the Folder needs an index fix.

  • Right click on Folder and select 'Properties'
  • click on 'Repair Folder'
  • click on OK
  • Select another folder then select 'fixed' folder.

Quick Filter looked as though it was highlighted so I clicked it and my missing emails came straight through. There was no search to clear. I did not intentionally click this filter but I guess I must have done. Thanks so much, it has been really frustrating hopping to and from the Sky version.
