Message filters worked just fine. Suddenly, they stopped working.

Hey all. I'm a pretty prolific user of message filters, and they're great. I'm a pretty ridiculous email user, I'll admit, and I gotta say Thunderbird beats Outlook hands down (unless I need to ink up an email... which... I don't...), I love it. Thank you thank you THANK YOU for such a fantastic piece of productivity software which I have been using for over a decade now - I used to sync my Thunderbird contacts to my Windows Mobile phone using BirdieSync (yeah!), now I... actually just don't sync my contacts at the moment. :P

Anyways!

First bit of trouble I've had, so good run!

I may have a preposterous number of message filters, but honestly? They don't seem that numerous, and crucially, they've always worked. To the best of my knowledge I haven't added one or deleted one recently, I may have edited one to catch an email that was sneaking by or to add an email from that provider... but that's never been an issue, and now MULTIPLE email filters have suddenly stopped working. My bank statement no longer shuffles automagically into the bank folder, my USPS "Informed Delivery" email no longer into the USPS folder, and more.

What happened? It's just like it's not even trying.

EDIT: I should add...

  1. Windows 10 Pro 64-bit, build 2004 (this was a recent change!)
  2. Mozilla Thunderbird 68.12.0 32-bit

EDIT 2: I didn't realize Thunderbird had updated so far ahead. I went ahead and uninstalled my old version of Thunderbird, and installed the latest, 64-bit version. The problem persists.

Chosen solution

Seems like they're working again, but... I can't figure out for the life of me what got them to, other than me simply going to "Tools" > "Run Filters on Folder" and seeing it run. Now my filters run like they used to, right when I start up Thunderbird, and as emails arrive and match filters. :P
