FF issues with PDF download.

I am still experiencing problems with a majority of the PDF downloads I try with FF. When I click on a link to a PDF file, FF often acts as if is downloading it so I can then view it, but I get an error message saying I can't open the PDF file, but I should instead downloaded it and then view it! Which is exactly what I am trying to do! And there is no 'other' way to download and view these PDF files in FF?!?!?

It is very frustrating because I then have to copy the link, open up Chrome, and download the PDF file from there! And it always works in chrome, but not FF, and this is even true on legitimate financial and academic sites!

And others here have noted the same issue for all over a year, and I hope someone responds and Mozilla folks work on fixing it.
