День сумо said http://blog.dmitryleskov.com/small-hacks/putting-the-received-column-in-thunderbird-to-work/ Users of the i386 architecture will not be allowed to upgrade to Ubuntu 19.04 as dropping support for that architecture is being evaluated and users of it should not be stranded on a release with a shorter support window than the release they are already running. Hello there rkaufman3
hello there I can't find an answer straight away that this solution will offer, according to you it's up to ubuntu.
this is your control system yes okay.
you have this installed via an update from a previous version that should also be fully installed and correct.
after switching from an update that you think probably happened automatically or maybe forced?
I first advise you to disable the installation and / or reinstall it (completely) and also to install a new recent version of TB.
use a good version for this.
it is also recommended to use a good antivirus. Sometimes also a good antivirus program certain parts after a not good complete update certainly not work properly takes this into account.
trying and trying out a little helps both others have a direct answer for this situation.
hopefully to have helped more.
do you have any questions please feel free to mail we are for that.

Modified
I appreciate your help, День сумо. Repairing the Inbox in Thunderbird properties was a simple and effective fix. I have been using Ubuntu for many years now and have never had a problem in Thunderbird for Ubuntu until now. I am able to use the Thunderbird email package in both Windows and Ubuntu again. I certainly hope this is a more or less permanent solution. I would like to thank all of the responders to my question as well.

Thanks again for the help. I am getting and sending messages again.
I always view the Ubuntu updates in Terminal. During the Thunderbird update portion of the Ubuntu update, multiple errors occurred, even though the update continued. Having seen this condition before, I was not alarmed. Maybe I should have been. I now have two instances of Thunderbird in the Internet menu, but only one of them works correctly. It refuses to let me delete one. Is there a way to do that without messing up Thunderbird? I don't want to do any damage.
Is Synaptic Package Manager and option?
