When i enter the master password, Firefox remembers it till the time it is not closed. Is there some setting i can tweak such that after a while Firefox forgets the password?

You can manually log out by canceling the MP prompt in the Password Manager when you click "Show Passwords". Another way is to open the security device manager and select the Software Security Device in the left panel. If the Logout button is enabled then you are logged in (Status: Logged in).

Unless you remove it, the Master will never go away.
