Multiple copies of messages that I am composing appear in inbox of linked mailbox
I have 2 gmail accounts - one for personal use and one for a charity that I'm involved in running - and I access both via Thunderbird. To make sure that I don't overlook any messages that come into my charity inbox, I have linked the latter to my personal inbox. My problem is that, when I go into my charity account to write an e-mail, multiple copies of the message appear in the inbox of my personal account while I am in the middle of composing it. When I go into my personal inbox, I have to keep on deleting these "drafts". It's a minor annoyance but, if I can get rid of it, I'd like to do so. Any advice gratefully received. (P.S. I'm afraid that I am not very good with computers, so simple language would be appropriate: I really am pretty clueless.)

A similar problem came up recently, i.e. a folder was not acting the way it was supposed to. As a workaround, try this: in Copies and Folders, set the Drafts folder to another location, such as Drafts on Local Folders, OK, restart TB. See if the autosave or manual drafts no longer appear in the Inbox. If they no longer appear, go back to Copies and Folders and set Drafts to Drafts on the account, if desired. If you don't need drafts stored on the (IMAP) account's remote folder, keep the location in Local Folders.
How have you 'linked' the two accounts? The simplest way to collect all messages in the same place is to select View/Folders/Unified.

Go to Account Settings-Copies and Folders. What do you have set for where to save Drafts? Sounds like the Inbox of your Personal account and not the drafts folder for the Charity account.
Thank you so much for your very speedy reply. However, I can't see anything wrong with my set-up. If I go into the account setting for my charity in-box, drafts are set up to go into the drafts folder on that account. I should stress that my problem occurs not when I deliberately save a message to drafts, but while I am simply thinking about what I am going to say in an e-mail. I'm not a quick thinker, and can easily spend several minutes cogitating about a message before sending it. In that time, several versions of the message - one when I've just written the name of the addressee, then one with a few lines of text, then another with a few lines more, then one with an attachment added, etc. etc. - are automatically saved to my personal inbox. Maybe it's just a glitch I have to live with!

Very many thanks for your reply. I tried the Unified View, but it didn't suit me. Then I tried the first approach that you outlined, and it seems almost to have done the trick. I started a test e-mail, and left it on my screen for about an hour, and only one copy appeared in my personal inbox, instead of lots of copies. So it's close enough to being a solution to satisfy me. Thanks so much for taking the trouble to respond: it's very kind of you.
If you haven't already updated to TB 60 (available from here, it might be worthwhile, as it fixes some issues with gmail accounts saving multiple copies of drafts, so it might also affect drafts being saved in the wrong folder.
Thank you once again! I wasn't aware of a new version (and the usual automatic updates don't, of course, work with this release). I'm now in the process of installing it, so my fingers are crossed. It's been a while since I made a donation to Thunderbird, and the installation served as a timely reminder, so this exchange has been useful to them! It's very kind of you to take the time to reply.
