How to scale incoming inline images to fit in message pane?

Thunderbird doesn't seem to have any settings to control the display scaling of incoming images. When I receive a photo that's larger than my message pane (a daily occurrence) I have to scroll sideways to see the whole thing. Awkward. I generally save attached images to a local folder and view them with FastStone or some such, but it'd be nice if Thunderbird could just scale images to fit right in the software.

The extension store, as far as I can tell, has several add-ons to resize outgoing images but nothing for resizing those incoming.

Any ideas?
