Emails deleted from Unified Inbox still show as struck-through in the inboxes of the individual email accounts; how do I delete them please ?

Using Thunderbird 45.8.0 under W7 64-bit, I handle several email accounts using a Unified Inbox. The individual inboxes are still visible, but I rarely use them. I've recently deleted a lot of unwanted emails from the Unified inbox, which initially show as struck-through, but after closing and restarting TB the struck-through entries disappear from the Unified Inbox (good !), but remain as struck-through in the individual Inboxes (a nuisance, though so far not intolerable.) Why don't they get deleted please ? What have I failed to do ?
