Why can't I log off from my e-mail account?
Sorry, I'm a technological idiot who wanted to get away from Yahoo. I created a Thunderbird e-mail account using the wizard and chose the standard settings. All seemed well until I realized that I could not sign out from e-mail. Booting up the computer logs me in, and choosing to exit just minimizes the screen. I want to log in only by entering the password and have the option to log out while still online.

If you share a computer, create a separate Windows account for each person, and make sure your Windows account requires a password. Thunderbird stores accounts, messages and password information separately for each Windows account.

You do not log into Thunderbird so why would you think you log out. You provide a password, or save the password and have Thunderbird provide it, when your email provider's server asks for one. Usually when you want to send or receive email.
FYI: There is no such thing as a Thunderbird account. Thunderbird is email client software running on your computer. Email accounts and addresses come from email providers like gmail, Yahoo or your ISP.
I still don't know how to exit the e-mail program that opens automatically when I boot up the computer, but I will ask Gandi, which provided the domain name, if they can tell me.
Programs start on boot up when you or someone with access to your computer places the exe file for that program in the Start folder of your operating system.
I think I am not describing the problem correctly. There is a Thunderbird icon on the desktop, which automatically opens my e-mail account when clicked on. This occurs even if no internet browser is open. I provided a password when I set up the e-mail account, yet no password is required. Anyone passing by the computer can use the e-mail because there is no way to log into or out of it - it's just there.

About a minute before this last response, I had finally located the option to have Thunderbird NOT store the password for my Gandimail account, and that has solved the problem. Thanks very much to the people who provided support.
Still did not answer my question. Mozella willlnot close when I click kon the trd X at the top right corner, it jus remains frozen on the screen until I turn off the computer and I cannot do anything else until I turn of the computer.
