Since the last Firefox Update I've had issues. Firefox won't connect to any website, while other browsers can and for some reason this has also caused Spotify to no longer connect to the internet.

I uninstalled Firefox and Spotify was then able to connect again and I installed an older version of Firefox from late 2016 and that worked fine, the second I updated Firefox the problem happened again. I have checked the Firewall settings and they aren't the problem, in fact I even uninstalled AVG and installed Bitdefender and Firefox/Spotify still won't work. I reverted windows to a snapshot of a week ago (back when everything worked) and that still didn't resolve the issue.

I've tried everything on this page https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/firefox-cant-load-websites-other-browsers-can

Honestly I'm all out of ideas, other than reinstalling windows. I am running Windows 7, so I might as well use this an excuse to upgrade to Windows 10.

Chosen solution

Some problems occur when your Internet security program was set to trust the previous version of Firefox, but no longer recognizes your updated version as trusted. Now how to fix the problem: To allow Firefox to connect to the Internet again;

  • Make sure your Internet security software is up-to-date (i.e. you are running the latest version).
  • Remove Firefox from your program's list of trusted or recognized programs. For detailed instructions, see

Configure firewalls so that Firefox can access the Internet. {web link}

FredMcD, I would kiss you if I could.

After installing Bitdefender and uninstalling avg, I went on the firewall page in the action center again and saw that the avg firewall was still running even though I had deleted the program, got a remover tool, actually killed all of avg, only had bitdefender running now and when I launched firefox then, it asked me if I wanted to allow it through the firewall.

Thanks so much for pushing me in the right direction.
