Whenever I change the sender name in Account Settings, it will still show the name I registered with Hotmail to the recipients. How do I fix this? I have no problem with Gmail accounts whatsoever. Please help. Thank you.

Similiar issue info: I have a website and use incoming pop account, but have to use my isp smtp server to send. When I send an email using that website email address in the 'From' field, my isp will add my personal email address in the headers.

In the received email list, the FROM correctly shows the website email address , so all seemed ok.

I only discovered this after someone responded to my personal address instead of the website address and I asked them how they had got that email address. They said it was in the headers, not visible generally, but shown in Full headers or Source view.

Apparently very common issue, nothing to do with Thunderbird and everything to do with ISP.

Try creating a second identity for this account. It's under account settings: manage identities.

It didn't work. My recipients still see the name I registered with Hotmail 20 years ago. Is it because Microsoft no longer allow us to change sender name in email client? I'm sure it worked before. I'm confused as to why I can easily do that with Gmail but Hotmail. What's with the restriction? I have to login to Hotmail via web to "edit name" which is bothersome as it takes about 5 minutes before the change takes effect.
