Can't remove "Today Pane"

I don't use the Today Pane so I want to remove it from the view. However, the View menu does not have an option to remove it from the view.

I think you have to either remove Lightning or hide the Status Bar under View/Toolbars.

You won't find it under View, Layout. But you should see "Today Pane" under the main View menu.

The Today Pane toggles in and out of view. But at the bottom of the Tbird screen it's still there. I want to get rid of this option from the bottom of the Tbird screen.

Ok, so I hid the status bar but that hides everything else on the status bar. It would be far better if there was an option under Toolbars or Layout to check/uncheck the Today Pane like the other panes. Maybe in the next upgrade.
