Hello everyone,

I just changed my host and the server settings etc in my account settings for my e mail account. All old e-mails disappeared. I guess this is "normal" when you change the host, but I can still find the mails when I search for a specific e-mail adress. I even see the texts of the mails in the search but when I want to open them I cannot see it. So this actually means the mails did not get deleted? Is there a possiblity to recover them?

Thanks in advance, Michal.

Never change the details or settings of an older account if you want to keep the messages in it. Always set up a new account.

If an account uses IMAP then the messages are stored on the server, so when the service becomes unavailable to you, the messages on the server will also become unavailable.

Thunderbird maintains a summary of messages. These are probably what is showing up in the search. It doesn't mean that the messages themselves are stored anywhere useful.
