Trying to bulk email to gardening club members, about 80 emails. Many go straight to junk mail folder including mine!

Have Gandi domain contact@nogs.info which we use to send emails

Club does have legitimate web site.... http://nottinghamorganicgardeners.com Maybe email linked to web site would give it more legitimacy and so avoid junk dumps? Is there any way round this problem? Thanks Eric Nottingham UK

re: a couple of address list groups and via the bcc box.

It may be that you are triggering a spam filter by use of 'bcc'. When sending, do you only use 'bcc' ? In other words there is nothing in a 'To' field being used at the same time in that email? Suggestion....try using at least one 'To' email address, even it is your own, followed by the bcc mailing lists/email addresses.

There are various guides on the internet advising on how to avoid triggering spam filters. Such as: https://www.inorbital.com/Blog/2012/Guide-to-Sending-Emails-and-Avoiding-the-Junk-Filt

Another option to consider would be to use an addon called 'Mail Merge'. You can create one email - I have one set up as a template, which I can reuse, modify sections and then send using Mail Merge, which then sends that email to the recipients as individual emails in a TO field. Not several contacts on one email, so bcc is not required.

In order to install a downloaded extension, please do the following:

  1. Click the menu button New Fx Menu and choose Add-ons.
  2. Drag your downloaded XPI file to the Add-ons Manager tab and drop it.

or

  1. Click the menu button New Fx Menu and choose Add-ons.
  2. Click the gear icon at the top-right corner to the left of the search box and select Install Add-on From File…
  3. Locate the XPI file you downloaded and click Open.

You may need to restart Thunderbird when prompted. For more detailed instructions and information about installing add-ons, see Installing an Add-on in Thunderbird.

With 80 recipients there are potentially 80 different problems. You haven't mentioned anything about the recipients email providers, email clients being used, junk settings, etc. Not sure what kind of answer you expect, and how your query is related to Thunderbird, except that you possibly use Thunderbird to send that mail.

Thanks, Yes I do use Thunderbird to send out emails using a couple of address list groups and via the bcc box. There must be about 20 different recipient email providers but of course I do not have details of their settings. Have picked up their email addresses from hand written membership forms. Eric

Thanks Toad Hall, That sounds great, I was using a To field addressed to me and then BCC which I suspected could be the problem.

Will check out the mail merge approach.

Eric

I know this is a forum for ThunderBird but I might as well ask - how does TB with 'Mail Merge' add-on compare to some other bulk-mailing softwares like: 32bit Email Sender (http://32bit.com/email-sender.html) Send Blaster (http://www.sendblaster.com/en/download) Bulk Mailer Pro (http://bulkmailerpro.com)
