I have trying to get rid of the very annoying two small lines at the end of new emails without success, can anyone help?

I use a fairly standard signature with a link to my website but just above it are these annoying two lines. See image.

Thanks in advance.

Chosen solution

Dash dash space <return> is a standard delimiter in usenet and newsgroups and Thunderbird carries it over into email. It is used in some contexts to identify matter such as signatures that can be stripped off a message to avoid endless repetition in quoted and re-quoted messages.

I use the delimiter all the time. It is necessary with addons such as signature switch which can swap in alternative signatures. It needs to know where to start chopping.

You can disable it. http://kb.mozillazine.org/Signatures_%28Thunderbird%29#Removing_the_signature_separator
