Thunderbird: Why does one of my email accounts get hung up and not connect? (other solutions posted don't work for me)

I"m having the same problems others have mentioned about all of a sudden one of my email accounts gets hung up and doesn't connect. I tried safe mode and switching to SSL/TLS which worked for other users, but not for me.

My other account connects fine so I don't think it has to do with this machine.

many thanks, Laura
