Since the last update, I have not been able to forward any email with pictures. WHY

Chosen solution

It's under Tools|Options|Composition|General.

However I find this autosave rather useful, so another approach is to cut out connections to other servers by going to Account Settings, and set the saving of draft messages to use Drafts in your Local Folders. That keeps it local. Look under "Copies & Folders".

But I have created a message with a picture, sent it from one account to another, then forwarded it from that second account to a third, and the picture has survived all the way through.

BUT since all these messages are on this one computer, I can't rule out that I see the picture because it's stored here on this computer. A cross check against another and independent user would help with this.

Please try this test sending to yourself or another of your email addresses. Click on 'Forward' New email opens with inserted contents. Double-click on the image to open the Image Properties dialog. make sure this is selected: "Attach this image to the message" click on OK

Complete any comments and click on 'Send'.

Please report back on results.

Did not solved the problem. When I get a email with pictures on it and want to forward the whole email. the pictures will not forward

What email address can I forward on to you, so you can see what I am talking about?

I don't think that would help. We need to check that you're including the image, and that is inside the message as you prepare it for sending.

However, send (or forward, or both) a message to me and I'll have a look and, assuming there is an image, I'll try to forward it back to you.

Thunderbird does have some issues with embedded images when forwarding or replying. In some cases, a temporary auto-saved copy seems to be part of the problem, and switching off auto-save may help.

Where do I find that auto safe?
