Chosen solution

This sounds like your computer default settings need checking.

In Control Panel > Default Settings 'Associate a file type or protocol with a specified program' scroll down to 'Protocols' All the following should be using 'Firefox' FTP HTTP HTTPS

So select HTTPS and click on 'Change Program' button Select Firefox and click on 'OK'

Followed your instructions and Windows 10 would not change the default BUT after playing around I used Control Panel\Programs\Default Programs\Set Default Programs\Set Program Associations Click on Firefox and changed https to Firefox.

thanks
