What do I have to do to stop all the sex type promotion emails that are suddenly appering in my INBOX since the last update?
Gees I don't know how to describe this really. But I seem to be getting a lot of emails ( like 8-10 per day) that are purportedly from the female species advertising their wares and sex type abilities. None of the email names are familiar (thankfully!) & I have tried several different settings in the Thunderbird settings area with no luck what so-ever. Thanks for your time & a great Mail client. I don't understand just how these "" obscene people" manage to obtain my email address
This is the part you can control (to a certain degree). See http://www.wikihow.com/Stop-Spam#Preventing_Spam_sub
Beyond that block spam using the Thunderbird built-in Junk Mail Controls. http://kb.mozillazine.org/Junk_Mail_Controls

This has got nothing to do with a Thunderbird update.
Are these spam messages sent to your email address?
Or are these delivery failure notifications for messages sent to unknown email addresses with your email address as the sender, and now coming back to you?
italic text Thank' you "Christ1 I THINK (?) that they would be classed as spam messages sent to my email address. I don't understand just how these "" obscene people" manage to obtain my email address and then send these very crude messages? Just what do they expect to "get out of it". Sorry, I didn't mean to imply that this problem was actually caused by the THUNDERBIRD update; In the same session that this problem started I also received updates from Microsoft & adobe as my laptop had been unused for several weeks. (No one else had access to it during this stand down time.) Thanks for trying to help me out here. Alan u
