messages not going OUT
Hello. this issue started 2 weeks ago. Suddenly messages are not going OUT of my Nadine@CoachNadine.com address. i get my incoming messages. I have tested by sending to myself at two other emails I own and never receive the message. I can go to my Nadine@Coachnadine.com/webmail account and SEE the message sitting there.
I have drNadine111@gmail.com, Nadine@MasteringAlchemy.com all in my thunderbird account. Both of them send and receive just fine. It is only the Nadine@CoachNadine.com account that is behaving this way.
Can you help? I have Thunderbird 38.6.0 I am on a Mac OS version 10.11.3
i have no viruses .
I have checked my settings/configuration for my account and even set up a new account. I am stumped. If you can help, I would appreciate it. i am willing to walk through steps with someone if you are willing to help me. I am in MTN time zone. If you are willing to help I would be interested in setting up a time to talk, share my screen and find a solution. ~NADINE

Hello Matt, we found the issue. It was with my Signature added into the account. So you were right.... I was getting snagged in the spam filter. Steps are being taken to get that resolved. That is it for me... I am handing the keyboard over to Al for a follow up note
Al here: You sir, are a steely eyed missile man!
Me again.. MUCHO THANKIE O..... Nadine out

what does your mail provider have to say about the issue. after all if Thunderbird is transmitting them to your provider, it's role is complete really.
Hello Matt, Well my computer guy says it is not his issue because we can see the message going from my computer to the server/
I can send a message to myself from the server. I can send a message to anyone from the server. however. (again this started in the past 2 weeks on an account I have had since 2003) right now nothing is going OUT from my computer on this account.
So I feel stuck. No one seems to say, here is how to fix the problem.
I created a new account, however have not figured out how to move all of my folders over to the new thing I just created. I am lost

Ok so what does the computer guy say about the server. What is it doing with the messages. When I wrote your original reply, it was obvious that the messages were going to the server. Thunderbird would have generated an error if they were not.
So your computer guy has really proved what was fairly obvious to start with. What is not clear is where the messages are going from there. The mail provider (which i am assuming your computer guy is). Mail server maintain a log of what they do with the individual mails received for transmission. From this log it can be ascertained if the mail was actually sent from the server to somewhere else and with what result. Or if the mail is simply not being on transmitted. But only the server administrator has access to those sorts of things.
I know in these sorts of circumstances you feel like everyone is "sending the fool further". This feeling is natural when you are feeling somewhat out of your depth. Especially in an issue like this where two distinct pieces of software are involved.
I am now feeling this is your own domain. If that is the case. What is the domain name and I will do a few checks to see if it actually is correctly set up for email. What I have found here is that often the email setting in DNS are simply either missing or incorrect. So the rest of the world will have nothing to do with the server.
Hello Matt My domain name is CoachNadine.com the webmail is view-able http://coachnadine.com:2095/cpsess9013925625/3rdparty/squirrelmail/src/webmail.php
I set up a new account called Nadine3 with Nadine@CoachNadine.com it configured at an IMAP account. I am able to send/receive from that account.
So I was trying to move my folders form the original POP account ... and am not being successful
Are you available to view my screen and provide assistance? What is your fee? It would be easier if you can see what is happening.
Currently when I attempt to drag a folder from the Original account to the new account, it goes into the Inbox which then shows up on the server. it is freaking weird. Also, somewhere, there were 5000* spam messages. not sure how the guy got rid of them. but they are now gone.
here is my direct email drNadine111@gmail.com let's use that rather than Nadine@CoachNadine.com to make sure we have two way connection. my phone is 970-443-2541 I am willing to pay you for your time/expertise as I am hitting brick on this side.
we have set up an account on MAC Mail and Nadine@Coachnadine.com can send/receieve just fine.
I have had 3 people look at this and right now it appears to be a probem between Hostgator and thunderbird.... something happened in the last 3 weeks that has created this mess.
Hello Matt, no one seems to have a solution. This not being able to send from ONE account on Thunderbird began Feb 14th that I was aware of.. it might have started before that.
is is possible there was an update that messed things up for me?
I have deleted the original POP3 account, and created an IMAP account to see if that would help (it did not) I have deleted the SMTP password and reset it.. as suggested... that did not help.
Is there anyone on the thunderbird side that can help
Are other accounts on the same host/ Server working?
go to the error console on the tools menu and clear it. Try and send a message. copy what appears in the error console to a message here.
I am starting to think you might be caught in some of the changes to SSL and the acceptable security cyphers. Some providers are proving particularly recalcitrant in changing their ways, even though some of the things have been obsolete for more than a decade.
Hello Matt
here is the error message Timestamp: 3/4/16, 7:08:28 AM Error: uncaught exception: 2147746065
also, we took me back to the build from January, then back to december to see if that would help. I started noticing my email would not go out on Feb 14th
All other accounts within Thunderbird are working, but they all have different servers.
I am attaching a file of the image of the outgoing servers
I will take a punt, based on the lousy host you have, and some of their truly bizarre actions re spam in the past..
Right click your account and select settings. Remove the reply-to address. Remove the organization Make sure your name does not contain Dr. (Nigerian scams)
Retired SW guy here. I"m trying to help.
We have an interesting situation here. The WEB site and EMAIL actually pass through the provider and on into a third party WEB site and EMAIL provider. (Not naming names, cute trick though).
If you hit the WEB site with HTTPS, you get an error warning that the CERT could not be verified, someone could be posing as someone else (i.e. the old middle man attack). So I enabled SMTP logging (level 5) in TB and to my amazement, it looks normal. Something I didn't think possible. (See below).
It looks to me like TB is doing it's job. If you want some other logging turned on, you'll have to tell me what you want to see. Be specific, I just stumbled onto the SMTP module, and ALL is unusable.
What else. We've tried tried it in safe mode, no joy.
We did also try native Mac Mail, but we only sent one message. I'm thinking if we send more it will stop working too - proving EMAIL provider is the problem. (Maybe tomorrow).
We get the Timestamp: 3/4/16, 2:45:41 PM Error: uncaught exception: 2147746065 quite a bit, but not always, and sometimes it appears to just happen. I read BUG 560056, but didn't follow the links to duplicates. I would love to try from a reboot, but the owner is not here and I will be unable to recreate the environment (passwords and such), maybe tomorrow.
Funny thing is, If we delete the account from TB and re-create it, it works for maybe 12 - 16 messages, (OR maybe it's about half-an-hour instead) then quits working. Once it quits working, Quit/Restart of TB does not solve the problem, even the next day. i.e. we've hit our limit somewhere, and that's all she wrote.. Same thing happens with both SMTP and IMAP. Also, inbound mail is working just fine.
Also about the time frame things started failing, the EMAIL service provider recommended using a different server and SSL/TSL. I'm going to set things back to plain-text server which I hope will allow owner to get some work done.
WEB site and EMAIL provider middle man has become hostile and wishes owner to use GMAIL instead, or just move on. Moving on to a different provider is also going to be my recommendation, as owner maintains her own WEB site anyway.
Not sure how to attach the log file, sorry in advance if this is unacceptable behavior.

lets name names in private... drop me the unabridged log to unicorn dot consulting at gmail dot com.
I see in the SMTP log we have here a request for a receipt to owner@gmail.com
My last guesses were based on stupid spam filters, and I think this is what is happening. it might be the receipt-to being another email address that is triggering a spam filter somewhere.
