composing new email spell checker shows every word is misspelled for Thunderbird 38.4.0

even if I use an existing template and edit as new...all words have the red sqwiggly line so when I go to send the check spelling box opens and picks on every single word? plain english stuff which is not misspelled. Any ideas what has gone foul on me, been using Thunderbird for over 10 years with no problems. Thanks in advance for any input!

sounds like it might have lost it's dictionary.

When you see those red wiggles, right click and select language. Do you have a dictionary?

Language is there...problem seems to have corrected itself, weirdest thing ever! Thanks so much for taking the time to reply & happy holidays!
