Every time I sync my calendar on Lightning, I get a message to "accept changes and update anyway" repeatedly even though the event is deleted from the server

This message repeats each time I sync, so can freeze the Thunderbird app after 3-4 syncs

Right button recycles message at next sync Left button instantly recycles message

Event deleted on server, in Lightning and by organiser

Turning off Google Provider stops problem, but that makes Lightning useless

Reinstalled Tbird, all add-ons up to date

Tried to upload image, but no luck...

Chosen solution

I deleted the event from my calendar and had the organiser do the same.

What organizer?

I have the latest updates of all three

Again, what are your versions of Thunderbird, Lightning, and the Provider add-on?

and have reloaded each of them..

I if that means you did reinstall Thunderbird, then that was a waste of time.

You can try to delete the calendar in Lightning, restart Thunderbird, and then re-create the calendar. Since the calendar is a network calendar no data will be lost.

Having said that, it's always recommended to have a recent profile backup. http://kb.mozillazine.org/Thunderbird_:_FAQs_:_Backing_Up_and_Restoring

Tried to upload image, but no luck...

I don't know what 'no luck' mean. You can add a screenshot to your reply using the 'Browse' button above 'Post Reply'.

As far as the image: It's a 35 kB .png file, but the "uploaded images" space just spins after I select it. After trying three times, I must conclude I'm having no luck with using this feature.

Back to Lightning...

The error message says:"This item has recently been changed on the server. Submitting your changes will overwrite the changes made on the server.

Left button: "Discard my changes and reload" Right button: "Submit my changes anyway"

Clicking on the left button closes the window, but it immediately reopens. There appears to be no limit to the number of times I can do that.

Clicking on the right button closes the window, but it appears as soon as Lightning synchronises again with the server.

I hope that helps.

And there's the image anyway....

Typically you'd get this message when making changes to the calendar from two different clients, and those changes have not been synced. I've seen the pop-up before, and I do chose "Discard my changes and reload" in that case. Why you get the pop-up again and again after that, I'm not sure. Verify that your calendar isn't write-protected. What are your versions of Thunderbird, Lightning, and the Provider add-on?

It's not write-protected and I do not get the same message with other events that I've changed. In fact, I deleted the event from my calendar and had the organiser do the same. I have the latest updates of all three and have reloaded each of them..

Is there a way to turn off this warning as an option?

Can I get help from someone on this? I have to force quit these days since this freezes thunderbird

Thanks; it stopped the cycle. I'll remember the "delete" manoeuvre
