I don't want to use Google or Bing. How do I make it show DuckDuckGo (or a similar privacy-oriented search engine) as the default option when I search for something?

Chosen solution

You need to go in Settings > Search and you should have a form to select your favorite search engine. If you are on Firefox OS 1.3 or lower, you can't change your search engine, Google is the only one.

Just in case you mean on Firefox for Linux instead of on a FirefoxOS mobile device, see this support article: Change your default search settings in Firefox.
