"Thunderbird failed to find the settings for your email account"

So I go back and try again, this time clicking on "Manual Config" button. (Help file says to click on "Stop" but all that does is take me back to previous page - says it's important to click stop before manual config, but I'm not getting that option). I change imap to pop3, and change ports, as copied from another laptop which has the account working. The "Done" button is not highlighted as an option, so I then click "re-test". The above fail message is then displayed instantly.

who is this mail server provider? open their homepage and search for pop-mail settings. Be sure you don't add a period or blank anywhere in your account-name or password

EDIT On second thought... Be sure your virus-protection / firewall allow Tbird to send and receive.
