(New user) All new emails going to Trash

All of my new email messages are going to the Trash. I am new to Thunderbird, just downloaded, connected to my Google Calendar, and have imported and added new contacts as well as setup email lists. I am synchronized with my gmail account and also have two GoDaddy domains forwarding to the gmail account. Everything is working EXCEPT that ALL new messages are going to the Trash and getting co-mingled with items that were selected to delete. And, because the incoming messages are going to the Trash folder, the filters are not working where I told some of the messages to go directly to other folders.

I have tried the suggestions I found online in the forums where they said to check the Junk settings. Didn't work. I don't want to setup all over again. I'm very computer and online savvy so this is driving me nuts. Aside from that, I am really liking Thunderbird and it's feature rich platform, but this might be a show stopped for staying with it. It is difficult to be productive if you're spending too much time chasing down new email messages.

Any help/suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!

Thank you for trying to help me. I appreciate that. I finally found the answer. It was the forwarding in the actual gmail account. I had a continuous loop. Once I turned that off email started flowing. Halelujah!  :-)

Do you have any filters that would explicitly filter a message to trash?

And, wWat happens if you disable all filters? (you can effectively do this by renaming msgFilterRules.dat file in the thunderbird profile directory for your account.)
