The first thing that comes to mind is that your friend (or whoever sent you the email) messed up on setting up his return mail-to address. It doesn't match his actual address. It could be a letter that is off or whatever. The other possibility is that if it is a scam, the 'messed up' address was done on purpose so that you cannot respond to it. In either case, the issue seems to be with the sender.
