Hello There! Iam using Mozilla Thunderbird Client with an Interface in our Native language- Hindi. The same has been offered to us (The Citizens) in a form of a Bundled Software package stored on a Free CD by the Govt. of India under the initiative which intends to promote the use of Local/Native Languages by the Netizens around India.

Now, current version showing up for this Client is 14.0, & scouring the option to fetch the latest Update/Upgrade results in --"No Update found"!?

How can this be possible? After all, the "Update Server" must be the same which is able to serve the entire Thunderbird Clients globally? Isn't it so? The attached screenshot reveals that respective Client is on the RELEASE channel, & yet it is not able to retrieve any New Update!? It says----Thunderbird is Up-to-Date (in our native language).

Please help decipher this anomaly. Thank you. Best Regards from New Delhi, India.

Thank you very much Matt. Hope, Mozilla will contemplate on officially coming up with the Localized versions of Mozilla Thunderbird as well, similar to Mozilla Firefox. Through your Forums, I were able to "Upgrade" my FF Browser to its latest Localized version--37.0.2. If possible, do keep your admirers posted & informed over the any forthcoming possibility to introduce Localized versions of Mozilla Thunderbird! Many Thanks. The case may be deem as Resolved. :-)

There seems to be no current Hindi version of Thunderbird. https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/all/

A Hindi language pack for Firefox does exist, but again, none for Thunderbird. May be you're having more luck to find one. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-us/thunderbird/language-tools/

Typically localization is done by local translators, not Mozilla. May be no one was willing to step up to do the work for Hindi. After all Thunderbird is a community project.

Hello Christ1, What ever is the reason behind an advent of a Hindi Version, what Iam trying to inquire about is that....Why is it not able to fetch the latest Upgrade of the Product? Do the Localized versions have an exclusive Update server? Isn't there a Common Global server to facilitate an Update or an Upgrade of all Mozilla products?

What Christi is saying is there is no update, as there is no Hindi version listed to update to.

Sure there are later versions of Thunderbird, but not in 'Hindi. Perhaps the Indian government might like to contribute the the process by supporting the localization efforts. https://wiki.mozilla.org/L10n:Teams:hi-IN

Hello Matt! May be you would like get involve a little bit more with the enclosed Initiative of the Indian Govt., & help this esteemed Mozilla Brand gain a permanent & a consistent foothold in the "Digital India" campaign. Atleast, kindly help make them realize that Why are these shipping "Outdated" versions of Mozilla products which in turn, are never able to retrieve the latest product Upgrades & Updates!? Nevertheless, Thanks for the response. So what would be your final Call, should I continue with an outdated Hindi Interface Thunderbird version, OR shun the charm of the Localized Interface, & install the Latest English Thunderbird instead? Thank you. :-)

Personally I would stay with the Hindi version until you strike a bug you can't live with. Whilst I am all for a up to date version as it has less security issues, I do not think the benefits are sufficient to force an update.

I have no chance of becoming involved the digital India stuff, but your in the right position to point them my way. I am more than happy to get them on the right track. My email address is in my profile should you want to pass it along.
