Can I shift the delete button away from the down arrow?

It is too easy to delete a message by mistake when clicking the close by button. Thanks

You are trying to drop it in a place it cannot go. If the stop symbols appears then do not try to drop in there. Move it directly over the REPLY button and drop it there.

You can customize all or any of the toolbars.

Underneath the list of messages at the top of the message I read are 5 buttons: Reply, Forward, Archive, Junk, Delete. Is that a toolbar? The delete button is too close to the down arrow for the message list and can be hit by mistake. hanks for help

Yes and it's customizable.

Right-click is your friend.

Right click the toolbar and select Customize. Find the SPACE object and drag it to the right of the DELETE button and drop it there. Repeat as needed to move the button away from that edge.

When the Customize window is open you can grab and drag the existing buttons to a new position. You could move the delete button to the other end of the list. Then you would just mark them as Junk instead of deleting them if you miss the scroll arrow.
